Musgrave Park Hospital
Felix O’Hare & Co Ltd undertook the construction of this new Neurological Unit, which included a link corridor to the existing Regional Acquired Brain Injury Unit, along with all ancillary works. Work was also required within the existing RABIU located within the Musgrave Park complex, in south Belfast.
Key features and benefits:
- This new-build, 33 bed unit provides specialist patient care, with accommodation split between single and four bed ward units. The facility includes outpatient and treatment rooms, assisted shower and wet rooms as well as kitchen and dining accommodation.
- The new building is a single-storey unit of traditional masonry construction with concrete framing and utilises the same materials as the neighbouring RABIU Building, ie buff clay brickwork, standing seam aluminium roof and polyester powder coated aluminium window frames.
- Careful phasing was required to accommodate the access and parking for the existing services on site.
- The neighbouring building, The Regional Acquired Brian Injury Unit (RABIU) remained in full operation throughout the works so the site of the Neurological unit had to be adequately protected to ensure the safety of the staff and visitors using the RABIU.
